Sunday Serenity: Kindly Reaching for Normality

Once again, I must apologize to you, my dear readers.

I haven’t posted regularly for quite some time, and I am sorry that I’ve rather disappeared from the blogosphere recently.

It’s hard to believe today is August 8th! I feel that last year dragged quite a bit, but this year seems to be the opposite.

I took the above shot about a month ago. Lake Michigan was in fine form, and some of the Chicago skyline looming in the distance was a welcomed sight. I miss going out and about and spending time in the downtown area that I love.

It’s not that we are back at the beginning of the pandemic here in Chicago; it’s just that with huge numbers of people in any area at any given time, I’m not ready for the crowd scene just yet.

We have the “Delta Variant” running rampant here in Illinois. With the continuance of so many unknowns, it is difficult to wrap my head around it.

So, having said all of that, since my most recent post was weeks ago, I want to ask you for updates. How are you doing? What strategies do you have for coping with the continuance of the pandemic? Is the situation in your part of the world much better than it has been?

I talk a lot on my blog about kindness. I’d say it is one of the most important factors humans can have. To me, it brings goodness to the world that needs to be here. It changes our outlook, our feelings, thoughts, attitudes, and for that matter, our reality.

Kindness gently sees through the nonsense and instead shines a light on it. I think that we do a disservice to ourselves when we don’t practice, accept, or acknowledge kindness.

So, here I am, sending you tons of kindness, good energy, and hopeful thoughts so that we all continue making things a bit better for others and (for ourselves) with the sprinkle of kindness drops!

I hope you are having a brilliant day!

P.S. KINDNESS MATTERS!

KINDNESS MATTERS! ❤ Our COVID counts continue to rise and new vaccinations rising only at a snail's pace here in Maine. Dan and I continue to wear masks indoors and stay home most of the time.

Hi dear Bette! Yeay to kindness!! It sounds like Maine is on the same trajectory as Illinois. It is so good to hear you both are wearing masks indoors and staying home most of the time. Very wise choices indeed, my friend. Thank you, Bette! Cher xoxoxo

All is well in my desert home, Cher, I hope you and yours have been well. Our governor reinstated the mask mandate a while back due to spikes of covid and that variant. I’m home most of the time, hiding from that!

I make demo tapes to cope with the continuance of the pandemic. Laughter is good too.

Well I am super proud of you for getting close to finishing your book, Joseph! Well done! I’ve never heard of a Timber voice! A helium balloon voice would be fun though, wouldn’t it? 😉 Cher xoxoxo

It’s great to hear from you and enjoy the gorgeous shot Cher. It is a rather draconian world we are in at the present. I’m in Florida so I don’t have to tell you how things are but I’m hoping for better soon. Take care dear share and thank you for the uplifting post today. ❤️💙

Have a great evening Cher. I’m sticking close to home unless I’m working. Our glimmer of light disappeared and our hospital’s are full again so I’m staying very busy. xoxoxo

Covid wise, we’re doing okay here in the SF Bay Area. However, the state is on fire and no rain in sight. So it’s hard to keep the faith.

Things have opened up a lot here in Ontario, Cher, but we’re not out of the woods yet. Vaccination rates, although high, have stalled and we just can’t seem to beat down those case counts. I have been venturing out more – I’ve eaten out 3 times in the last week after not venturing into a restaurant for 18 months. Laura and I have tickets to a concert in September. I can’t wait until I can come to Chicago to see you. I’m supposed to go to Milwaukee in September but I’m doubtful that will happen.

I’m so glad to hear that things have opened up a lot, Michelle. But yes, I can relate to the ‘not out of the woods yet.’ I’ll bet it felt amazing to start venturing out and eating in a restaurant again (something I haven’t done in a long time)! Oh do you? That’s awesome, Michelle! I can’t wait until you can come to Chicago too! It’s been way too long! I am really crossing my fingers!!

      Thank you!! Cher xoxoxo

Here in the UK, cases of Covid (the Delta variant) continue to rise. On average 80 people, a day are losing their lives to it, but we are told they are unvaccinated or those that have only had one shot of the vaccine, Cher. However, our government decided to lift most restrictions, but many people are still being careful. I’m keeping to my small family bubble, and when we have to go out, we always wear a face-covering and keep socially distanced from others. I’m saying positive, though.
    Take good care, Cher.
    Sending you hugs.

Hi dear Hugh! It is all so confusing, isn’t it? I am so glad you are all keeping safe and taking precautions. It is the same here, and I just don’t want to take chances. With our state now experiencing COVID numbers increasing, it’s so wise to be careful. I’m so glad to hear you are staying positive, Hugh. I feel the same.

Ah, thank you, Hugh! And to you as well! Hugs to you! Cher xoxoxo

Unfortunately, I believe we may be in for a bad winter with both flu and Covid, Cher. I’ll certainly be getting my flu shot this autumn.

Thank you for your email. I’ll be in touch.
