Thursday’s Sunrise: Muted Morning

Well this was a lovely sunrise this morning! What’s interesting to me is that Lake Michigan appears to have two horizon lines.  I noticed this as soon as I looked out of the window this morning.  It was almost as if part of Lake Michigan was still covered in a layer of ice, and part of it wasn’t.  I don’t think that was actually the case; however, I don’t have an explanation for this interesting illusion.

Did you spot the plane? This one is headed for O’Hare Airport, a rather regular occurrence over the lake.

The sun was muted behind the clouds, but it certainly provided for a nice, glowing effect.

I hope you are having a terrific Thursday!

Lovely! I do see both apparent horizons. O’Hare is a nightmare to navigate, I try to route around it when heading to Michigan.

Thank you, John! Oh you do see them too? Yes, it really is quite overwhelming. I like flying out of Midway when possible. Cher xo

Yeah, Midway is much better, I can’t always route through that one though.

Another lovely sunrise, Cher! We’ve had another snow here in Maine…it’s winter and the sunsets can be exquisite. Have a blessed and beautiful day. ❤

Thank you, dear Bette! Oh have you? Yes, winter seems to bring out the color palette in the sky (the sky painter perhaps helping us endure snowy winters)! And to you as well my dear! Thank you! Cher xo
