Macy’s Christmas Tree Tradition, Part 2

**** There is a short recording to accompany today’s post located just above this note!

Last week I wrote a post about the beautiful Macy’s Christmas Tree located in the Walnut Room at Macy’s on State Street here in Chicago. The photo showed the tree with spectacular red lights shining on every single ornament. This post shows the same tree with green lights lighting the way.

What do you think; do you like the red or the green? It is interesting how light can affect not only the look but the mood of a scene.

I hope you are having a lovely day, no matter the scene!

I think it needs the red! Red and green, in harmony.
Are you old enough to remember the Walnut Room being in Fields? I have a nice memory of that.

I like the red better as well, dear Billy Ray! As you know, I’m from Canada, so I hadn’t experienced Fields! I’m sure it was incredible! Cher xo

I forget you are from Canada, as is my sister-in-law, from Edmonton. I forget things, plus I visit your blog, and you are Ms. Chicago to me!

Red! The green is still lovely, but the red seemed to give more of that glorious Christmas aura… ❤ Wishing you a beautiful weekend too, Cher! xo

You’re so right about how lighting is so important, Cher. I can’t relax in a room with is overly lite. Lighting can completely change the atmosphere and affect the way we feel.
I prefer ice while lights on a Christmas tree, although coloured lights take me back to my childhood Christmases.
The Christmas tree in your photo is stunning. I can’t imagine how long it must have taken to assemble.
    Have a lovely weekend. 🎄

I feel the same way, Hugh! Yes, I agree; too much in the way of bright lighting actually makes me feel ‘jumpy’ for some reason. That’s interesting as I prefer the white lights as well! The tree really is something, isn’t it, Hugh? I wonder that as well and that is another great question for me to find out from the fine folks at Macy’s! That and how many decorations are on that tree! LOL And to you as well my dear; thank you! Cher xo

Yes Macy’s is not even close in class but they had the $$ at the right time to buy from Target

Yes Dayton Hudson bought Marshal Field turned all the Dayton’s into Marshall Fields – then changed its corporate name to Target and sold everything except Target stores to Federated/Macy’s- not even close to the same
