Isn’t this a lovely building! You’ll have to please forgive me for not knowing which building this is! I was waiting for the bus in downtown Chicago the other day, and for some reason I looked up and saw this beautiful structure!
That’s the thing about Chicago’s architecture; it is so diversified, so spectacular, and if you don’t spend time looking up once in a while, you’ll miss it! I don’t know how many times I’ve walked past this building and never ‘noticed’ it.
I snapped this photo mere seconds before the bus arrived and off I went! Do you see the recessed part in the middle at the top? I wonder if it would seem too ‘close’ to your neighbor living (or working) ‘back there’.
I’ll keep exploring the phenomenal architecture of Chicago, and report back soon with something completely different!

Reblogged this on The Militant Negro™.
Thank you so much as always my dear friend!! Cher xo
You are so very welcome Mon Amie.
🙂 xo
Hi! If this is on Michigan Avenue, then I’m sure this is the Conrad Hilton Hotel building. It sure looks like it, if my memory is correct. 🙂
Hi Susan! This is on Washington, just west of Michigan Avenue. I think the Conrad Hilton is south on Michigan! But now that you mention it, I’ll go and take a picture of it and post it soon! Thank you, Susan! I bet it is similar! Cher xo
You could be right. There are so many beautiful, and sometimes very similar, buildings Downtown. I’m glad you shared this. I know I’ve walked past this beauty many times when I lived there, back home– 🙂
Oh yes, that’s so true, isn’t it? So you know first-hand how many spectacular buildings we have here! Ah, I am sure you have! I’ll get a pic of the Hilton soon! I think I’ve actually been in the Hilton, as I was taking some friends (who were visiting from Canada) on a city tour; the Hilton was one of the stops! Cher xo 🙂
I’ll look forward to seeing the Hilton. I was in it many years ago, sometime around 1977-78, and got a walk around the Presidential suite, or whatever it really is called. I remember it’s the room that JFK stayed in once while in Chicago. That was cool. 🙂
Oh Susan, that is so cool!! Wow! I wonder if they’d let me take some pics in there? Probably not, but I might ask! Cher xo
My “visit” was when one of my girlfriend’s mother’s friend (who was a cleaning lady/maid there) let us stop by when my girlfriend and I were bumming around Downtown one evening in the summer. I remember the suite was huge and fancy. Wish I had my camera back them. — I wonder, too, if they’d let you in to take pictures. But, in this day and age, I’m not so sure. 🙁
You were lucky to see it, Susan! That’s a special thing, isn’t it? Well I can ask (I have cards with my blog info. on them so perhaps that would help)! Maybe if I ask in advance? I’ll try, nonetheless! Thank you for the ideas! Cher xo
I would love to see the Henry B. Clarke House, I believe it is the oldest house in Chicago, and I understand the fire department academy is on the property of where the fire started on the o’Leary property. I so want to spend time there I have been there but always passing through.Cheers
Hi Kelly! I do think you are right about it being the oldest house in Chicago. I’ll have to check into that! Yes, that is true; the fire department academy is on the property of where the Great Chicago Fire Started. Here’s a post I wrote about the Chicago fire: https://wp.me/p4doQv-uy
that was a really good story, I enjoyed it thanks for sharing it
Thank you so much, Kelly! Cher xo
I love Chicago for many reasons and the architecture is certifiably one of them
Ah, me too, Beth! I feel the same! Cher xo
I hope it is more a work section in that corner. Pretty dark.
I hope so too, Erika!! Cher xo
