Today is the first day of “Daylight Savings Time”. I’m not sure if this is a phenomenon that takes place only in North America or not. In the Fall we turn our clocks back one hour on the first Sunday in November, while we move the clocks forward one hour the second Sunday in March.
I am certainly no expert when it comes to this happening; however, there have been proponents and opponents of it for years. Some say it helps people psychologically when a perceived ‘extra hour’ of sunlight occurs, making the evening’s light longer. Conversely, the morning’s light is an hour later.
When I was a child, we learned a sentence to remember the two annual time changes: “Spring ahead, and Fall back”. Funny what sticks with the ol’ brain, isn’t it?
I’m always confused by this whole time shift, to be honest. This morning I woke up completely unaware as to what time it was. I peeked out of the window and saw this beautiful sunrise so I began to snap away!
I takes me a few days to get adjusted to the time-change. What about in your part of the world? Do you have the ‘pleasure’ of this occurrence? In my mind, why can’t we just keep the clocks the same all year? Your ideas are more than welcome, please!
