Saturday Serenity: Moments of Merriment

It’s so hard to be ‘in the moment’, isn’t it?  Sometimes I find myself either thinking about the past or wondering about the future, and not being exactly where I am, which is NOW!

The other day I found myself thinking about some upcoming events when I was suddenly jarred out of my ‘non-now’ thoughts by the coolest situation.  I was at a store where I saw a clerk waiting for an elevator.  There she was (and I know she thought there was no one else around, as she didn’t see me at first), dancing to the lively music coming from the overhead speaker system.

I smiled as wide as I could, in witnessing this NOW scene where this dear soul felt the music right then and there.  Just as I walked past her, she stopped in her tracks, as if we were playing a game of, “Simon Says” and the next action was to HALT!

I looked at her and said, “You keep on dancing, girl; I love it!” The sweet look on her face spoke volumes!  As I continued on my way I did a few little twirls myself, which prompted her to reply, “You have a great day, sweetie!” I waved and kept on smiling (okay, maybe an extra twirl sneaked into my steps).

I realized that this small, quick interaction created a new and very grateful memory for me.  I could have completely ignored this lovely person and stayed in my future thoughts instead of experiencing a burst of happiness.  I swear, the little things that we have in front of us are often the most profound.

Are you in the “now” today? Keep your eyes pried open for a happenstance that will bring some delight to your day!  That’s what I am wishing for you right NOW!
