Antiquated Rooftop Architecture

rooftop on Broadway

I think sometimes as we are surrounded by the familiar, we tend to lose sight of things right in front of us.  Take the above picture, for example.  This is a phenomenal piece of architecture that sits atop the roof of a building that I walk past all the time.  And yet, it wasn’t until today that I really took the time to notice its detail and how incredible it is.

I am wondering if it was built at least 100 years ago.  Note the “portal-style” windows.  Isn’t that amazing?  The perfectly blue sky is a lovely backdrop to this structural piece of Chicago’s architectural history!  Keep on the lookout for ‘the extra-ordinary’ right in your midst!!
