Iβve only seen the church castle in a drive by. Thatβs a great all inclusive photo! Thanks !

Thank you so much! This is actually a water tower building which now houses a small gallery dedicated to locale artists. It was also a water pumping station!

I’ve seen this tower before but not in person, it has great architecture, Cher. We did things very differently back then. π

Thanks for the link, Cher, I’m surprised that some folks didn’t like the tower regarding it’s looks.

Thanks, John! I thought the same thing! I remember the first time I saw it – I thought it was lovely, and such a stark contrast to the other architecture in the area. To me, that made me like it even more! Cher xoxoxo

Amazing. Looks like an ornate lighthouse. Do you see the light.

Cool building. I donβt think Iβve ever seen it on my visits to Chicago.

The brown building behind it is the main building of Loyola University’s Water Tower campus. We used to play Frisbee on the lawn around the Water Tower, until they built all the fences around it…

What an incredible building to find in the heart of Chicago, Cher. It’s beautiful. Have you been inside to have a look around by any chance? I can only imagine it looks fantastic inside.

It’s quite something, isn’t it, Hugh? Thank you so much! Although I haven’t been inside yet, I know it houses a small art gallery. It is fascinating that it was built along with a less castle-like building (located across the street) as a pumping station (to house the “iron pipe” that provided water to Chicago from Lake Michigan.)
Chicago still gets its water from the lake, but the pumping station is no longer in use.
I’m going to check the open hours and see if I can get in there! Cher xoxoxo

The art gallery sounds interesting, Cher. John can not resist buying art, but I do enjoy browsing it all too. We’ve so much artwork that some of it lays behind wardrobes. We do talk about swapping the artwork around, but we never get around to it.
I had no idea Chicago still gets its water from the lake. At least there is plenty of it to have. The city should never run out of it.

Does he, Hugh? I completely understand how John cannot resist buying art! Yes, I am the same about swapping the artwork around! I wonder if we get so used to our environment that we don’t think about it.
I was very surprised to learn about Chicago’s water supply when I first moved here, Hugh. We are fortunate to have a steady supply. Now, if someone could figure out how to finally get drinking water from the ocean…… π
Thank you, Hugh!

That makes me think how lucky we are in the UK to have drinking water from our taps. I never buy bottled water as what comes out of the tap is good stuff.

Oh yes, I agree, Hugh. We are lucky if we have plenty of good drinking water from our taps. I think about locations around the world that have shortages of clean water.
Thank you, Hugh! Cher xoxoxo
