Thursday Doors: Apartment Entry (and some stained glass too)

Every Thursday the always awesome Norm over at Norm 2.0 has a fun feature called, “Thursday Doors”.  Norm challenges us to find unique and fascinating doors that we happen to come across during our travels.

I was out for a wander last week and came across this lovely door.  Although it appears that I took this photo fairly close to the door, I was actually quite a distance away, peering through (yet another) gated entry.

I like the stained glass adorning both sides of this entrance.  This is an apartment (condo) building.  It never ceases to amaze me how much detail and intricacy has been put into not only the doors when they were constructed, but in the upkeep ‘all these years later’.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a city that has this much varied and fascinating architecture.  Chicago definitely excels in this category.

It’s funny because I keep finding these gorgeous doors that I have no doubt walked past many times.  But isn’t that always the way?  If you pay attention to something you will most likely begin seeing it everywhere, despite the fact it was in your presence all along. 🙂

Thanks to Norm 2.0 for creating such a fun and interesting weekly post challenge!

    Nice door, Cher.
You are right, when we start paying attention to something, we find it all over 🙂

Chicago has it over all the rest of the country as far as architecture is concerned. Is that in Edgewater? (5300 North is Foster, right?)

That is a really interesting door. Your pictures make me wonder what goes on behind the doors. What kind of people live there? What are their lives like? I know what you mean about paying attention to things. I was recently looking for some new planters and, when I was out for my walks around the neighbourhood, I saw planters everywhere that I had never noticed before.

Thank you, my dear! I think that too with lighted windows, especially frosted glass! It is so interesting that you saw the planters everywhere and hadn’t noticed them before. That’s exactly what I mean! I say to myself, gee, is that new? LOL One of those human traits, eh dearie? Cher xo

That stained glass is great with the sun coming in through it.

Ooh what a lovely entrance indeed. The stained glass is a really nice touch. Not something we see much of on modern buildings. Nice find Cher 🙂
