Thursday’s Sunrise: Illumination!

Apologies for the lateness in getting this pic posted!  I took it early this morning, but the day ran away and here I am! Isn’t this magnificent? The beams on Lake Michigan are just beautiful, don’t you think?

I hope your day has been as illuminating as this sunrise!

Hi Cher, those illuminating beams are called “Crepiscular Rays” – also commonly called Heaven’s Rays/lights.
Always a pleasant surprise when they appear 🙂

Hi there, Chris! Ah, is that what they are called! Thank you for letting us know! Oh yes, it sure was a pleasant surprise! Like a sunbeam shower! I’m going to try and remember its formal name: “Crepiscular Rays” (and the Heaven’s Rays/lights is a lovely description too). Thanks, Chris! Cher xo

Just lovely, aren’t they, Bette? If you see under the comments here, “Murph”, that is Chris Murphy who is a Meteorologist for Canada,’s “The Weather Network”! Chris has provided the formal name of the phenomenon, and I just had a ‘you learn something new every day moment!’ Thanks, dear Bette! Cher xo

Yes, I grew up in Michigan, near Lake Huron, and until about three years ago lived in the Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior. I always love to see the Lakes!
