Cloud Reveal

sunrise Lake Michigan Feb 16 2016

Talk about an unusual sunrise! Void of the color that many sunrises seem to provide over Lake Michigan, this one has a different feature.  It appears as if the clouds are in a vertical pattern, one grouping stacked on top of the other.  It looks like these cloud shelves are opening up in the middle in order to allow the sun’s beams to come streaming out onto Lake Michigan.  I thought it was very interesting.  There are a couple of anomalies in the photo; can you spot them?

It has a particular magic for sure! It feels to me as if the clouds would open up like a curtain for the sun!

Being directly across the lake that is like the sunset at the beach. I love the play of light over the water.

I think the anomalies are the green spot and the orange half moon, maybe?
Those only exist in the image, not in real life, I assume.
    Gorgeous picture.

You nailed it! Those are exactly what I was referring to in the photo. I was thinking the orange half moon was a reflection of the sun. The green spot; I have no idea! You are correct; I didn’t see them in real life!! Interesting!! Thank you for being spot on! Cher xo

Hi John! There is a green streak of sorts on the left side of the picture. Nearer to the right side there appears to be an ‘extra’ sun. I need some photographer lessons!! *LOL* Cher xo

Great photo Cher and the green comes from no reflex glass and the sun by mirroring.

Thank you, Irene! They aren’t anomalies after all! Perhaps one of these days I’ll capture something truly ‘out of this world’! 🙂 *grin* Cher xo

It looked like I’m peeking between two horizontal blinds in my bedroom early in the morning… And I thought there’s some “lens flares” around it, too, like what John said. But no worries, I too sometimes get these flares and I just “heal” them via Photoshop!

That is similar to what I thought! The blinds with the sun peeking through! Ah, thank you my dear! Cher xo
