As we merrily make our way down the Chicago River, you will note a rather interesting sight. Sometimes waiting for a taxi can be an exercise in futility. Ah, but what about a taxi on water? Utilizing the water resources of Chicago, the summer months provide an alternative to the frequent taxi trials and tribulations found in our fair city.
Enter the Chicago Water Taxi service! For a mere eight bucks you can take a taxi (water-style) all day to various locations along the route. This waterway ‘cab’ travels along each branch of the Chicago River. Why, it certainly assists commuters wishing to avoid the mayhem of traffic in the downtown area during rush hour! By the way, many people use the service for commuting (just in case you thought I was making it up)!
The stop you see in the photo above is the, “Chinatown Station”; notably distinctive with its Chinese temple-style architecture.
No need for cab hailing along this corridor! Regular stops allow for easy access about every 15 minutes. Don’t you just love this idea? No meter running, no delays; ah, save perhaps the odd duck family who is taking a rather leisurely morning jaunt down the watery thoroughfare! All aboard!
I like water taxis, you feel like you’re not just going somewhere, it’s an adventure. 🙂
Thanks for Cher-ing. Hope this day treats you kindly. 🙂
Big hugs, Donna xo

Dude – the human loves the idea of a water taxi!! No such thing here – (Oregon)- but they wouldn’t get ME on one of those things! *(Darts under bed)*

I’m glad the human loves the idea of a water taxi, but can’t I convince you otherwise? C’mon pussycatto! There is an Australian kitty named Didga who adores the water: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=didga+cat+water+australia&FORM=VIRE3#view=detail&mid=93E0DF1AD0493B83D81F93E0DF1AD0493B83D81F Cher xo

No traffic jam, so why not? 🙂 A nice ride too, Cher! We had catarmarans for water transport in Brisbane, Australia. They were fun! Thanks for sharing 🙂 ❤

Oh yes, I agree, Iris! I flew into Brisbane but didn’t get to spend any time there. I am sure it was brilliant for you, Iris! I think commuting via water taxi would put one in a rather cheery mood to start the workday and at the end of the workday too!! Love, Cher xo

If I was in Chicago – I’d know where MY money was being spent – certainly NOT on maintaining a car.

That does look like it’s fun. I haven’t really taken water taxis even when I lived places that had them.
