This is my second, “Thanksgiving” this year, as, “Canadian Thanksgiving” was in October. I get asked the following question now and again: “Is Canadian Thanksgiving similar to American Thanksgiving?” Without getting into the history of Thanksgiving for both countries, the simplistic answer is, “yes”.
The food is practically identical; however, the most important, interchangeable feature is the, ‘thankful’ sentiment. Being thankful for all of the blessings we have is such an incredibly important factor to a happy life. I find that gratitude, appreciation, and truly finding thankfulness for what may seem as, ‘small things’ can really turn out to be grander than their appearance. In showing our thanks for the little things, we are attracting more blessings into our lives. A smile, a kind gesture of a door opened for you when your hands are otherwise preoccupied with bags and parcels; yes, these are the things to be grateful for every single day.
To truly be aware of everything we have and experience, is to be aware of the fullness that life has to offer. A gesture of thanks is exponential in nature; it returns to you in wondrous ways.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, not matter what area of the planet you find yourself today.
