Serenity Saturday – My Favorite Quote of All-Time!

Go with the Flow and Just BE..

The sun is brilliant this morning, but Chicago finds itself once again in ‘cold’ temperatures.  Now, to me it isn’t ‘cold’, given the fact I have experienced Canadian cold which truly cannot compare with ‘this cold’! *grin*  Ah, I think you get the picture.  As I sit here looking at Lake Michigan, coffee not too far out of reach, I am thinking about this past week.  Some things were extremely frustrating to me, while others mere inconveniences.  This lead me to thinking about the whole idea of letting old stuff go; you know, leave it where it belongs – in the past, even if the past was yesterday.  I am guilty of ruminating on that which does not do me any good whatsoever.  A terrible habit, really.  I try very hard to ‘go with the flow’, which I’ve talked about in previous posts.

Herein lies the catch:  when you can let go of things that bother you, the flow of experiences seem to smoothly and effortlessly wander your way.  However, when you cannot let go of circumstances and thoughts that do not assist in your happiness, the flow seems to stop.  I wouldn’t say the flow dries up; in fact, I liken it to a garden hose that is flowing when uninterrupted, yet ceases to be but a mere trickle when you bend the hose.  It’s still there, waiting for you to let go of the forced bend; and when you do, the flow returns to its normal state of allowing.

So here’s my favorite quote of all time which I need to take heed of, that’s for sure:

Ralph Waldo Emerson Quote 2

So here’s to letting yesterday’s ‘old nonsense’ stay where it belongs, and not in your forward view!!
