Another Peek Inside The Chicago Theatre

The past few days I’ve been posting pictures of the iconic, “Chicago Theatre”. If you’d like to see what I am talking about, here are the links:  A Peak Inside The Chicago Theatre

and here:  The Iconic, “Chicago Theatre”

The picture above is that of more beautiful, ornate decor found in the theatre itself.  The detailing is amazing, don’t you think?

Here’s a closer glimpse of the detail:

Quite something, isn’t it?  I think that these decorative areas were once used as, ‘box seats’ for the well-heeled patrons back in the early days of the theatre (1921 was the year the theatre first opened its doors to Chicagoans and travelers alike).

Ah, and what do we have below the delightful decor? Any guesses as to what this is?

If you happened to have said that it looks like a fountain, you would be correct! During my tour of the theatre, our guide noted that this once working fountain had a rather ‘watery’ affect on some of the patrons.  Apparently it was quite distracting to theatre-goers.  The ‘trickling’ of the water led some to suddenly have the need to leave the performance and head to the restrooms! The fountain no longer works for that very reason!

We shall continue the Chicago Theatre “series” this week!
