Look at our girl!  I wanted to provide you with a little update on the newest addition to the Shedd Aquarium here in Chicago.

You might recall my post a few weeks ago where I introduced you to, “Sea Otter Pup 681” who was rescued near Monterey, California.  The poor little mite was abandoned at approximately one week old.

I am thrilled to say the Shedd is reporting that the sea otter pup is doing wonderfully in her new home.  She is now weighing in at about 9 pounds; certainly a huge gain since her arrival to Chicago in October.

Apparently she has advanced from taking tiny pieces of clam from a trainer’s hand, to moving food put on her paws into her mouth.  This is a wonderful progression for this dear cutie-pie!

She continues to reach other milestones as well, such as swimming on her tummy and her back; she’s a quick learner, our sea otter pup!

I cannot help but continue to think of her as, “Pearl”; I have heard that when she acquires an official name it will be related to the area she was found.  Despite the fact she’s a, “California Girl”, she looks like a, “Pearl” to me!
