It’s Friday, it’s “Earth Day”. For your amusement I present to you the “Earth Day Elephant”. He simply ‘showed up’ one day last week, and I had to take a picture to share with you. I love this sculpture on so many levels as an interesting representative of Earth Day.
I love elephants; they are so wise and majestic, aren’t they? This metal guy is made from used parts of ‘whatever’; using old pieces of scrap metal to create a fun and amusing sculpture. Instead of polluting our amazing planet with even more ‘junk’, someone used the material to represent one of the greatest creatures on earth.
So here’s to Earth Day, the home we all share. I recall hearing an astronaut describe what it’s like to view our little blue marble from space. It put a lot of things into perspective for this spaceman. He talked about how seeing ‘home’ from ‘out there’ makes you so incredibly cognizant of the collectiveness we often overlook. We’re all on the same planet, but many people don’t see it as a shared and sacred space.
Earth Day is a reminder how important it is to treat our home with the utmost respect and care.
