Saturday Serenity: RMS Queen Mary – Never-ending Deck!

Many of you know about my deep and utter love for the ship, “RMS Queen Mary” permanently docked in Long Beach, California.  When I’m not on the ship, I think about being on the ship.  When I’m on the ship I think about how fantastic it is and can’t wait to get back!

I took this photo back in March when I stayed aboard during the week I won a trip to Los Angeles:  I’ve Been Away Because I Won a Trip to L.A.!

The hallways of the deck of the ship are sooooo long!  Can you see how it appears to ‘ripple’ in the background?  I don’t believe that is your eyes playing tricks on you.  To my understanding, the decks had to be constructed in such a fashion as to allow for ‘give’ while the Queen Mary was sailing mightily across the Atlantic Ocean (1200 voyages).

Although difficult to tell from this angle, there are a plethora of hallways leading to more hallways (and cabins) that jet off this main deck thoroughfare.  Is it extremely easy to get lost on the ship? You bet it is (the ship has 12 decks – 3 of which have staterooms/cabins), and I for one actually enjoy that!  Exploring places without a purpose as to where you wish to go is something I really love to do!

Do you have a place on the planet that you absolutely adore?
