PAWS Chicago & The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation: Partners In Public Duty

There is an absolutely wonderful project on display in downtown Chicago for the next few weeks!  “PAWS Chicago” (Pets Are Worth Saving), in partnership with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, sold 100 unpainted dog statues to artists and businesses in the Chicago area.  Each ‘owner’ painted the statues to pay tribute to fallen Chicago Police Officers and their families, K9 Officers (of the fur persuasion), and animals who are waiting to be adopted by loving families.  There have been 575 Chicago Police Officers killed in the line of duty.

There are 100 doggie displays in the downtown area.  After the displays are taken down, they will be put up for auction.  The organizers of this marvelous event are hoping to raise $250,000 which will go to PAWS Chicago and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.  What wonderful, worthwhile causes!

So here’s to police officers, K9 partners, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation folks, and the amazing people who run PAWS Chicago and do such an incredible job at helping our furry friends.
