Have you ever seen cows like this? My friend Janet and her partner Harry recently took a vacation to the stunningly beautiful Acadia National Park, located in the State of Maine. Janet graciously gave me permission to share a few photos from her trip.
These interesting looking cows are called, “Galloway belted”; however, the locals refer to them as, “Oreo cows”.

Yes, I see the resemblance!
Acadia National Park is located along the coastal area (Atlantic Ocean) of the State of Maine. It spans over 47,000 acres, and is situated approximately 160 miles (257 km) from the city of Portland, Maine, and about 50 miles (80 km) from the city of Bangor, Maine.

Acadia National Park includes areas comprised of pink granite. This photo shows a huge chunk of it by the water’s edge. You can see how large it is, as it almost takes up Janet’s entire hand!
Here’s Janet standing in front of what appears to be the backdrop of a movie! It looks surreal! Janet mentioned that to keep the traffic down, the park offers its visitors free shuttle bus service to areas all over the park. I think that’s a fantastic idea, and certainly allows for a less-intrusive, less-crowded experience. She also mentioned that a visitors center located north of Portland provided patrons with free blueberries!
Thanks so much to Janet for providing me with these beautiful photos to share with you! I really want to visit this amazing area of the U.S.! And for a personal “Canadian” association, there is a place called, “Bar Harbor” located in the park (which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive to the Canadian border – Province of New Brunswick).
