The Gift From the Monarch Butterfly: Here’s Why

Yesterday was the Fourth of July, and in the US we celebrated America’s Birthday.  I wrote a post about it:  Happy Fourth of July From the Chicago Files!

In my post, I mentioned that not only would there be lots of fireworks displays, but that I always think about my grandma, as she was born on the Fourth of July (so the fireworks are for her too, especially since her parents were American)!

Today I was walking down my street and I saw a butterfly land on a tree branch.  As I fumbled in my bag for my phone to take a photo, instantly I thought, “Gram!” This is a little hello from her.  You see, my grandmother absolutely loved Monarch butterflies.  I have not seen a single Monarch butterfly all summer; but here it was, as gentle and delicate as they come, waiting for me to snap a photo.

I took five photos; just as I went to put my phone back into my bag, the butterfly ‘fluttered’ away.

I don’t think there could have been a bigger grin sweep across my face than the one I had when I saw this beautiful creature on the tree.  I made sure to say, “Thank you!” because I would like to believe that it was a “God-wink from Gram”; no, I’d like to change that.  I KNOW it was from Gram!

I hope you are having a lovely, gratitude-filled day!
