Recently I was in the town of Winnetka, Illinois. It’s just outside of Chicago; and yet, I felt as if I was a million miles away from the big city.
I had never been to Winnetka before, and immediately it reminded me of many small towns in Canada. It had such a different vibe to it than Chicago’s energy. It’s almost as if I hadn’t realized how much I was needing a calmer perspective. I love Chicago; it’s definitely one of the most incredible cities on the planet.
And yet, having the opportunity to spend a bit of time away from the hustle and bustle made me appreciate the slower pace a small town can offer.
I took this picture of the train tracks while I was waiting for my train back to Chicago. I think it is a great symbol (and literal) example of balance; joining the serene with the quick moving.
What about you, do you have a preference between small towns and large cities?
