Today we celebrate Memorial Day. It was first observed on May 30, 1868, to honor those who died in the Civil War. Now, on Memorial Day, we honor the memories of all those who have died in military service of the United States of America.
Memorial Day should not be just an occasion to give people a three-day weekend of leisure, but rather a call to remembrance of those who have suffered and died to ensure our political and religious freedoms that we enjoy today.
There is a real danger of forgetting our heritage and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to make America the land of the free and the home of the brave. There have been hundreds of thousands of great soldiers in our countryโs history.

Thank you for your service, and thank you for your powerful words. As someone who comes from a military family, we will not forget. Blessings to you, Cher xoxoxo

I also want to add that I received an email from a company last year with the headline, “Happy Memorial Day.” Immediately I wrote to them and provided my opinion on their inappropriate use of the word “Happy.”
I didn’t hear a response from them; however, there was no use of that word this year. I do hope my message to them made them think twice in a tiny way.
