Thursday Doors: Welcome to the Vitamin Vault

Every Thursday the always lovely Norm over at Norm 2.0 has a fun feature called, “Thursday Doors”.  Norm challenges us to find distinctive and interesting doors that we happen to come across during our travels.

How’s this for unique?  I posted this picture a few years ago, but thought I’d ‘get it out of the vault’ (very bad pun intended) to use for today’s Thursday Doors post.

This is one of the many things I love about Chicago!  Instead of destroying beautiful architecture (inside and out), this city is filled with re-purposed materials and structures.

Case in point:  The ‘door’ you see above is located in a local pharmacy/chemist shop.  It used to be a beautiful old bank building.  Utilizing the vault door, the shop has turned the former safe-keeper into a room of vaulted vitamins.

Although I didn’t find any money in this room (not even Al Capone could claim a good hiding spot for his loot here) I did picture what it must have looked like ‘back in the day’.  Swapping dollars for D Vitamins is a pretty clever idea, don’t you think?

Thanks always to Norm for this fun, weekly door challenge!

That’s a brilliant idea Cher! I seem to remember this photo. Or not? They have little need for more security for those vitamins! 😎

Hi John! Isn’t it cool? Yes, I actually mentioned in this post that I posted this photo a few years ago (I guess I should have been more specific as to when)! LOL But you did see it, yes. I agree! No need to lock up the Vitamin B! Hehehehe Cher xo

Isn’t it something, Irene? Quite clever using an old bank vault as a place to hold the vitamins! 😉 Thank you! Cher xo

I love it when they find a way to incorporate existing features into a place. My wife’s employers are in a former bank building and they kept their old vault too; they use it as a meeting/conference room.
    Excellent post Cher 🙂
