Step Into the Vitamin Vault!

Chicago, you never cease to amaze me! This is the, “Vitamin Vault” at the flagship Walgreens store (pharmacy, chemist).  This building was constructed in 1921 (say, isn’t that the same year the Chicago Theatre was built?), and used to be the, “Noel State Bank Building“.

Maintaining the integrity of its former life, Walgreens decided to ‘keep the bank vault’, as it were, and turn it into a clever place to house vitamins! Isn’t this something?

While I took this photo a store clerk was standing nearby moving some boxes.  Cheerfully I said to her, “This is such a cool concept.” With what can only be described as a half-hearted attempt at sarcasm, she replied, “Yeah, well, whatever makes ya happy.” My response? “Well Ma’am, this makes me extremely happy!” At that moment I could have sworn I saw a slight shaking back and forth of her head; nah, it must have been the lighting!

Rest assured the vitamins are well looked after and, dare I say, “protected” at this store!

Well, I suppose if people ever got trapped inside they’d be alright for a little while huh!

Hahahaha, nice one, Andy! Yes, they wouldn’t need to worry about not getting enough sun (Vitamin D)! And there’s always Vitamin C instead of juice! 😉 Cher xo

So, this isn’t the Walgreens at State & Randolph, right next door to the Chicago Theater? Cool idea, though.

Isn’t it cool, Christy? At first when I was rounding a corner in the store I saw the ‘door’ of the vault. Upon closer inspection, there it was, the whole shebang! *LOL* Cher xo
