Saturday Serenity: The Metaphor of Magical Orchids

What a wonderful pop of color this orchid has added to the dreariness of the winter months! I have had this orchid for about nine years, and it never ceases to surprise me.

Just when I think it won’t have another bloom, three arrive with another one to shortly join its colorful companions.

I have often heard that orchids are extremely difficult to grow; for some reason, this hasn’t been the case with this particular beauty. I find it interesting that whatever is happening at its roots certainly seems like magic. Lying dormant to one day manifest into this beautiful and intricate flower.

Rather like a metaphor for ideas and inspiration. At our very core (our “roots” if you will) I believe we have the capacity to produce all kinds of amazing things.

Ah, the serenity of such magnificence. Did you think I was referring to the orchid? I was also referring to YOU!

    I LOVE this.

Ps. It’s the orchid show at the Chicago Botanic Garden until March 22.

That is a gorgeous Orchid, she’s been around a long time and still vivid and fresh. You must really be giving her lots of TLC! xoxo

I’ve grown orchids. I’ve found that some are very fragile and remarkably some are tenacious and thrive for years. This gem is is a tough little gal! ❤️

They were in bloom when I got them but never rebloomed, although they lived for quite some time. I even tried repotting one or two with the special orchid mixture. No go.
