A Lego and a Gentlemen!

I swear, you never know what you are going to see in the Windy City a.k.a. Chicago!  I was at a downtown mall the other day and happened upon this ‘put-together’ gentlemen!

Made entirely of Legos, this fine chap seems to be taking a page from the windy conditions here in Chicago. Yes, Mr. Lego, holding onto your hat would be the wisest thing to do I’d say.

The Lego Store is located in this mall (Water Tower Place) but interestingly, it isn’t close to the “Lego Man”.  I guess the fine folks at Lego wanted to ensure that everyone could see the possibilities with a toy that has been around since 1932.

Here are a couple of pics that I took of our Lego guy from different angles:

Now I must tell you how incredibly difficult it was to ‘not’ go up to our “Windy City” friend and touch the Legos! I think I must have had a flashback to being a child and wanting to build things with Legos!

What about you, did you have Legos when you were a child? And I have to ask you this:  Would you have been tempted to touch this statue too? 🙂

    Have you ever been to a Lego Land? It is not only a theme park but also there are countless sculptures and scenes replicated with lego blocks.

    I didn’t have Legos, or more correctly, we didn’t have Legos. My brother borrowed a set from a kid across the alley and I had the most fun playing with them. Nevertheless, I wasn’t interested in having a set of my own: I already had an Erector set and Lincoln Logs.

      Now John, growing up in Canada there weren’t any Lincoln Logs; living here, I now know what they are! And I’m sure the Erector set was just as fun as Legos! Cher xo

    I agree with John, I had an erector set and Lincoln Logs too as well as Legos. Those little logs were great fun building little structures! Nice job capturing the Lego Gentleman Cher! I wonder if Lincoln Logs are still available?

      I am sure it was great fun, John! Why thank you, John! I had to wait a while to take the shots, as there was a ton of people walking by. Honestly, I just wanted to run up to him and get a closer look, but the Canadian in me said, “no”! LOL I wonder if they are as well. And they are based on President Lincoln’s childhood home, correct? A log cabin I think! Cher xo

    Nice post! I did have Lego sets as a child. I am astounded at what I’ve seen done with them recently. Take a trip up here to the Mall of America there is a Lego Land there. The Mall is one of many delightful things to see and do while here. I recommend Spring (whenever that is) or my favorite Fall late September into November

    Growing up in my day, Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys. If you had a big enough Tinker Toy set you could build a farm windmill with cardboard blades that went round when blew on it. I love watching the kids playing in Lego Land at Mall of America.

    I’d have been very tempted to go and touch the lego, Cher. As a child, I never had lego, but my nephew (who is in the following photo with my niece) did. Here they are with another lego man from a well-known store in the UK.

    Legos weren’t yet popular in the US when I was a kid. I remember buying them for my own children and thinking how expensive they were! The Lego statue in your photos is amazing; there’s a place in my area of TX near where the Dallas Cowboys train that has a similar one made of a football player. It was amazing to see close up, and YES, I was tempted to touch!

    We think that’s the coolest LEGO Statue ever! I can’t imagine how long that took to create! You’re right, Chicago has some very unexpected surprises!!
