The delightful Norm (and a fellow Canadian!) over at Norm 2.0 has a great weekly feature he calls, “Thursday Doors”. Norm invites fellow bloggers to post a photo of an interesting door (and there sure are a lot of them).
I haven’t participated in a long while. However, today I have a lovely ‘door’ to share. I took this photo last Fall when I was walking past a beautiful church here in Chicago. The church is, “St. Josaphat Catholic Church” and was constructed in 1902. Its architectural style is known as, “Romanesque”.
I wish I had opened the door to see if it was unlocked, as I’ve heard it is stunning inside.
Thanks to Norm for hosting his weekly door post challenge.
Those are really nice doors Cher, what’s inside? Have you done a photo shoot on the Bean? It was 70 here yesterday, 73 today supposedly. Signs of spring in the air!

Thanks, John! Well the cover shot for my blog is of the “Bean” but I would like to go back and take more pics. Ah, that is a perfect temperature if you ask me! Cher xo

Nice picture of the doors to what appears to be a lovely parish. The inside of the church is just beautiful. Yes, I checked their website and bulletin: I’m Catholic, that’s what we do…

John you literally made me laugh out loud! Although I’m not Catholic, I do love beautiful churches. Had you seen this church before? Cher xo

The hinges on the doors are astounding to me. So large and sturdy, but just a little scary!

Hi Ally! It’s great to see you! Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing about those hinges. I thought, why are they so long? Is it necessary? But I think it is part of the “Romanesque” architectural style. A bit scary, yes interesting at the same time! Thank you for your comments my dear! Cher xo

Hard to go wrong with a classic looking door like this one. Those decorative strap hinges are quite something. Good find Cher and thanks for sharing it 🙂
