The Friday File: California Flowers

I took this picture last month while in Los Angeles.  What struck me as interesting was the shadow the sun made of the little yellow ‘anther’ (I had to look up the name of these pollen-producing parts of this lovely flower) onto a petal.  For some reason this adds such an extra element to this beautiful flower.  A shadow onto itself.

I hope your day is filled with extra elements of loveliness!

When we went to Sun Valley, Idaho with the children, we saw the most beautiful flowers called “California Poppies.” But I have never seen them for sale in New Jersey. One pleasure of traveling is seeing plants and flowers that are new to your eye. The picture that you feature on this post is truly magnificent.
