A Serene Scene in Downtown Chicago

I took this photo while I was on the train, standing up! I don’t know why I think this, but to me this scene looks peaceful and calm.  With the large, sometimes overwhelming skyscrapers that make up Chicago’s downtown, it is a wonder that anyone would see this as anything but serene.  Synergy; ah yes, the architecture and structures seem to stand in a cohesive existence despite their differing appearances.

Okay, perhaps I am really stretching it here, but I just thought of an analogy.  An orchestra has a litany of contrasting instruments; each type or kind with its own merits.  And yet, when played together they create a new and exciting sound.  I think that is what downtown Chicago does, don’t you think? The various buildings and bridges are quite striking alone, but together they create a magnificent, connected sight!

I hope your Saturday is filled with serenity and delightful sights!

A wonderful photo. Specially the bridges which connect the high buildings together. And yes it looks very quiet. I love this view.

I think, that what makes this looks so peaceful may be the quiet water. Water is calming, Cher 🙂

I was fortunate to do an architectural tour of Chicago… maybe in the 90s? Fell in love with it. Need to come back…
