The Friday File: For Illustration Purposes Only!

Many of you know how much I love sharing photos of sunrises over Lake Michigan here in Chicago.  I also love sharing beautiful cloud formations and blue skies.

Well, at this moment the sky is completely void of colors and cheery clouds.  I wanted to show you what it looks like in comparison to the usual ethereal and sublime color combinations of the water, sky, and clouds.  Take this picture, for example:

Or this one:

And then there’s this:

I think the Sky Painter left his whispy tools and breathtaking color palette at home this morning.  Or perhaps he was in a melancholy way today.  Either or, I’ll be on the lookout for his artful return sometime soon.

Whether grey day or colorful day, I hope your Friday has been lovely!

There are indeed gray days here, much more in winter as are our famous wind storms. But there are 300+ days per year of sunshine in the valley. 🌴🌵

Just 65 here just now but it’ll get cooler. This is the High Desert, I’ve seen my pool freeze over with a tiny layer but that doesn’t last more than a couple weeks then we warm again.

I’d take 65 degrees right now, John! Really? A bit of ice? I had no idea! Cher xo

Yeah, the ice was super thin though, it wouldn’t support a lawn chair. It was a bit warmer last winter though. It’s 70 in my apartment and I still wear a light jacket, house shoes and a blanket over my legs! Holy crap…

I love it when the sky looks like that! If you hadn’t taken a photo you’d think back and assume you’d been exaggerating. It just really is that gorgeous!!

Hahaha, thank you, Josy! Yes, I wanted people to see that the sky over Lake Michigan (a.k.a. my view!) is amazingly different in a dramatic way at any given moment! It really is, Josy! Thank you my dear! Cher xo

Call us strange, but those overcast days are what we call “Chicago days” and we enjoy them. Great pictures, by the way.

Really, John? I hadn’t actually heard that phrase yet, believe it or not! I really don’t mind the ‘melancholy sky’, to be honest! Thank you so much! Cher xo
