Sunday Serenity: Gentle Scarlet

I post a lot of photos of Chicago’s architecture, Lake Michigan’s lovely cloud-scapes, and mesmerizing sunrises.  However, what I have never posted before are photos of a gentle, 4-legged soul that lives just outside of Chicago.

Please meet the beautiful horse named, “Scarlet”!  Scarlet is a 12 year old chestnut Quarter Horse mare.  Scarlet has had some physical issues in the past year, poor girl.  I’m happy to say she’s on the mend.

My lovely friend Sarah is Scarlet’s human mom! Sarah is an incredibly experienced horse-rider.  She looks after Scarlet with the most amazing and loving energy.

Truly it is awe-inspiring to see the connection between Sarah and Scarlet.  I have always had a love of horses; they are strong, majestic, and incredibly intelligent.  I know for a fact that Scarlet feels the same way about Sarah as Sarah does about Scarlet.

I took horseback riding lessons when I was a child and I loved it.  I didn’t stay with it, though.  Now I wish I had.  Looking at these photos of Sarah and Scarlet brings back some great memories of what it felt like to see the world atop a horse’s back.

So thank you, Sarah and Scarlet; you’ve no doubt brought a lot of smiles to many faces today.  Just like mine at this very moment.

Looks like a lovely horse. Sadly, horses and me don’t get on. I once went to a friend’s stable and helped her groom hers and my eyes closed up due to a histamine reaction within 30mins. I had to wait for the puffiness to go down before I could see to drive! So – Horses from a distance and in photos great but not too close 😉

Love the photos!! I rode when I was a kid as well, miss the smell of the barns and the horses, and feeling free.

Such a beautiful horse! She reminds me of simpler times…when Milk was delivered by horse & wagon in bottles right to your own front door! Priceless beauty!
