As many of you know, I take a lot of photos of clouds over Lake Michigan (and sunrises too)! Clouds fascinate me. I love how they can change shape right in front of you, often appearing as objects we recognize.
On a whim, I googled something like, “Do a lot of people like clouds”? Lo and behold, I came across, “The Cloud Appreciation Society”! Who knew? With over 43,000 members worldwide, I guess loving clouds is really a ‘thing’! Why, they even have a, “Cloud Manifesto”, touting the value of clouds against the, ‘blue sky thinking’. In other words, these cloud collectors feel that life would be boring weren’t it for the dreamy, thought-provoking, calming, fascinating world of clouds.
I must admit, I wholeheartedly agree. Blue skies are lovely; don’t we all tend to say (with reverence) at one time or another, “There wasn’t a cloud in the sky”. However, without the puffy shape-shifters to dot our skies, the never-ending blue would be somewhat monotonous after a while, don’t you think? I do find that staring skywards at clouds more often than not allows me to clear my mind, seek answers to a quandary, or simply relax in the most dream-like manner.
So here’s to the clouds and their collaboration with our day-dreaming, problem solving, calming, and idea-gathering ways.
Excellent post. I have never thought much about clouds unless it’s raining or I’m on a plane! I learned some that a long thin expanse of cloud spread across the sky are called mare’s tails. Maybe i’ve noticed clouds more than I thought! The best kind are the soft puffy ones that you can see different things in them.
You’re so right about, no clouds I the sky! Not something to be pleased about!
Have a great Sunday!

Why thank you, Ruthie! I’ve never heard of mare’s tails before! I think you have noticed clouds more than you thought! *LOL* Yes, those are very cool clouds! Clouds can be very interesting! Did you see the cloud photo I posted last week where there are ‘eyes’ in the cloud? Cher xo

Cloudy days are fairly rare here Cher, with 300+ days of sunshine per year. There are clouds up there but usually very thin and scattered. Not odd to see one single cotton ball floating above the valley.

I just went outside to have a peak at the sky, been indoors all day. Lots of clouds right now but they are very scattered giving constant sunshine.
My website says it’s 106 just now which concurs with my temperature gauge on the patio. Much cooler today!

I’m sure the sun will clear those clouds away, John! If that is the temperature and it’s cooler…..wowsers! Cher xo

Oh yes, it’s easy to feel the difference between 116 and 107 which it is now. I can feel my skin sting just a tiny bit when in direct sunlight and it’s breezy. Strange sensation, maybe I’m the only one…

Wow, that’s incredible! No, I’m sure there are others who feel the same sensation on their skin, especially those who are from ‘the north’! *LOL*

I’ll bet that has something to do with it Cher. i was once again wondering if I could really handle living next door to you in Michigan again. I hope to be in Michigan in August for my daughter’s delayed wedding reception. The humidity! The bugs! Those winters…

Yes, it is hard to decide when you are talking about extreme weather in both places!!

*LOL* I wasn’t sure what I’d find when I ‘googled’ my question, but there they were! Haha! Ah, that is very thoughtful of you to say, Helen; thank you! A couple of the pics I saw showed quite the clouds, with one in a ‘ring-like’ formation around the top of a volcano! Good heavens! *LOL* Cher xo
