    Great photo. South is behind you, East to the right and West to the left! In geologic terms, much further north of Chicago, the Earth’s crust is very slowly rising from the weight of the loss of the ice during the last glaciation. In due time, Chicago will flood from the lake floor rising. 😬

      This is too funny, John! That is EXACTLY what I was going to say! (the direction clarification for Don)!!     Beautiful photo. I’ve never been to USA let alone to Chicago. Doesn’t look like a lake and is quite scenic.
