Thought-Provoking Thursday

sunrise Lake Michigan April 13 2016

I took this photo yesterday morning.  It started out as quite the melancholy day.  The colors of the clouds and water seemed to have a lot in common with their dark tones and unwelcoming hues of gray.

Suddenly, there were beaming sun rays, giving their utmost to push through the clouds and shine some appreciated warmth onto Lake Michigan.

And here is the thought-provoking notable as the title of this post suggests.  When we are convinced that an unwanted situation is simply the way it is, what does it take to gain a new perspective from the supposed absolute of a situation?  In other words, can we see something that is right in front of us from a completely different vantage point?  A shift in perception can illicit a new and often surprisingly simple way to see a situation with a sense of possibility, hope, and excitement!

When I saw the clouds and dreariness that greeted my gaze, I immediately felt a bit underwhelmed, a tad on the unmotivated side, if you will.  But I changed my perspective and focused on the bit of light that was doing its best to see its way through the dullness.  When I saw it from this perspective, I realized that I need to ‘see’ things in front of me from an observation of possibilities, as opposed to a default reaction of taking things at face value.

Here’s a little challenge for you today.  Can you take a look at a situation that you feel simply ‘is what it is’ and find a new perspective about it?  If anything comes to mind, please share it with the rest of us!

I wish you a wonderful day filled with new clarity staring right at you!!

Hi Erika! Why thank you! Yes, I actually did! It is not easy for me to do all the time, but I sure do try! Say, by any chance did you have an opportunity to hear my interview on Canadian radio that I posted last week? Cher xo

Sorry, no! I was more off than on for the past two weeks and barely read any posts. Could you provide me the link?

We were at our house closing appointment a few weeks back and what we thought would be less than a 30-minute appointment turned into 2 hours. About an hour into it I could feel mister man going into steam mode, so I made him, our realtor and myself get into a fit of giggles instead. What can you do right – nothing like being a captive audience. Our realtor during the last hour would mumble to herself, shake her head and roll her eyeballs and we would be off laughing again. The best was when she said they really have it together for a Monday morning and hopefully this is not a sign to come for the rest of the week – ha!

Happy Day – Here’s to Seeing the Rays of Sunshine Amongst the Clouds – Enjoy 🙂
