While strolling past, “The Bean” a few days ago, I also stopped to gaze at this glorious city’s buildings. I must say Chicago has the finest architecture I have ever seen. It’s eclectic, and yet cohesive at the same time.
The steel structure you see is Millenium Park’s bandshell. “Pritzker Pavillion” holds dozens of free concerts throughout the summer months. “Grant Park Symphony Orchestra” fills the downtown with wonderful sounds of musical notes that carry far beyond Millenium Park’s border.
Having, “The Bean” and, “Pritzker Pavillion” shining brightly in the downtown area provides a brilliant segue to the cityscape of Chicago.
Have a shiny Monday, everyone!
Wonderful picture! I have never been to Chicago but it sure looks amazing!

Have you ever gone on any of the architectural tours in Chicago? One of my college friends is in Chicago and sometimes mentions them.

Hi Joanne!! As a matter of fact, I have been on the architectural boat tour approximately 15 times!! Every time someone comes to visit, we take them on that fantastic tour! It’s incredible!! Cher xo

Do you recall if you have ever had one with a woman named Susan Osborn? She teaches in the music department at Northwestern but is also an accomplished photographer who sometimes leads the tour. We were music majors together at Smith, class of ’82.

I don’t recall, Joanne. However, I shall definitely be mindful of the docent’s name next time I take an architectural tour!! I shall let you know if I meet Susan! Cher xo

Wow for a great photo Cher 😀 I think, that you appreciate Chicago so much more as an expat, than the people who have lived there all their life.

Ah, thank you so much for that, Irene! I am so grateful to live in such an amazing city! I think we do that, don’t we; that is, take our surroundings for granted. Sometimes we can be in the grandest places and yet not even think twice about them until someone visiting points it out to us! Did you see “The Bean” photo from my post a few days ago? Cher xo

It really is incredibly popular, Irene! I think it must be the #1 tourist attraction, that ‘bean’! *LOL* Cher xo

Of all the times I’ve been to Chicago, I don’t think I’ve ever really taken the time to appreciate its sights. One of the things I love about visiting your site is that I learn things about “my” (our?) city that I should have known all along. When the weather warms, the hubby and I are going to spend the day walking and looking, no particular destination – we’re always on the way TO somewhere when we go and I think that’s part of the problem!
